This is a reinterpretation of the DB27’s celestial theme, with a more somber and personal style.

For the past decade, the De Bethune DB27 collection has been one of the independent brand’s most understated yet technically sophisticated watchmaking masterpieces. The collection debuted in 2012 as the Titan Hawk, followed by the V2 version and various derivatives such as the JPS and green dial versions. The DB27 has consistently presented its lightweight titanium case, patented floating lugs, and in-house AUTOV2 movement in a more accessible way.

This new DB27 «Night Hawk» watch, a collaboration between Yamaha and EsperLuxe, a renowned independent watch retailer in Sudbury, Massachusetts, is another expressive and personalized interpretation of the collection. It retains the essential DB27 design while featuring a distinctive dial design.

The DB27 watch features a 43mm diameter, 9mm thick case crafted from Grade 5 titanium with alternating polished and brushed finishes. True to De Bethune’s signature, the watch boasts patented floating lugs, presented in short, matte-finished flame-blue titanium components. These movable lugs are central to the wearing experience, conforming to the wrist. The center of the case is adorned with the brand’s iconic shimmering texture. A double-layered anti-reflective sapphire crystal protects the dial and showcases the intricate workings of the movement. It is water-resistant to 30 meters.

The dial, designed by EsperLuxe, sets this «Nighthawk» special edition watch apart from previous DB27 models. For the first time in the collection, De Bethune utilizes flame-blue titanium to create a «starry sky» theme. The star pattern depicts the night sky according to the date and location, marking the collaboration with EsperLuxe that began in 2021. Surrounding the central disc are classic hour markers adorned with Roman numerals, and outer minute markers with Arabic numerals. The poetic central disc complements the meticulously structured outer scale ring; the mirror-polished two-tone (blued steel dial with silver tips) hour and minute hands, along with the central seconds hand, form a complete display.

Through the sapphire crystal case back, the De Bethune DB27 “Night Hawk” EsperLuxe Special Edition watch houses the familiar AUTOV2 movement. This in-house automatic movement comprises 217 parts, vibrates at 28,800 vibrations per hour, and boasts a 60-hour power reserve. It incorporates several brand-exclusive technologies, including a titanium balance wheel set in white gold, designed to optimize inertia and thermal stability; and the brand’s patented flat-ended curved balance spring. The titanium-tungsten alloy rotor not only ensures high winding efficiency but also maintains visual harmony with the rest of the movement.

This De Bethune DB27 Night Hawk watch is specially crafted by EsperLuxe and features a blue fabric strap and titanium pin buckle. A custom watch strap will also be included with the purchase of this timepiece.
