Coin for the teacher

  • I teach history at school and often look for unconventional ways to interest students. One day I decided to bring old coins to class to show how money can be used to trace the change of eras, symbols, and power. The children perked up and asked a lot of questions. Then I decided to go further and use CoinsTrail in preparing materials.

The site has become a real helper for me. Through it, I quickly found images of coins from specific periods – from the Roman Empire to the 20th century. Thanks to CoinsTrail, I showed not just photos, but told in what year and under what ruler these coins were issued, what their circulation was, what they were minted from, and what this meant in the historical context.

Since then, I have been using coins regularly as a lesson element. Students started bringing coins from home, and we explored them together. I even held a competition to find the rarest or most interesting coin using CoinsTrail. The winner received a coin as a gift.

Now we have a real small club of young numismatists in our class. And it all started with a simple historical approach and a convenient, inspiring portal CoinsTrail.
